Giving Thanks 2009
Posted on November 26, 2009 - Filed Under Distractions
Last year, I decided to avoid being snarky when it came to the things I was thankful for. Instead, I took a few minutes to reflect on the positive things in my life. After all, it’s focusing on the positives that gives us the energy to do something about the negatives. So, I’d like to continue that tradition this year.
In 2009, I am thankful for:
- My son, Jackson, who joined our family just a couple of months ago. I couldn’t have asked for a cooler little boy. He’s got a lot of personality (and I’ve got the sleepless nights that go right along with it), and he’s as damn near perfect as I can imagine a kid to be. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe he’s actually my son.
- My wife, Cindy. I met her 8 years ago this month!
- That old stand-by, the health of my family and friends. This was something I might have taken for granted in the past, but times are a-changing. Best to play it safe with this one.
- All my friends, old and new. Here’s a special shout-out to my Facebook crew. I really avoided Facebook until this year, but now I’m really digging connecting with folks there.
- The publishers I’ve worked with this year–Oni Press, Marvel Comics, WildStorm, Skullvines Press, and EvilEye Books–and the exciting new comic book and prose projects that will be launching later this year and next year.
- The opportunity to work on a couple of screenplays and learn a lot about how the film industry works from someone who knows what he’s doing.
- The conventions I’ve been able to attend and the super-cool folks I’ve met at those shows.
There ya have it, folks! I am one thankful mammer-jammer! I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
