March has come in like a lion… made of interviews. I’ve been talking to a lot of folks lately… about MAGNETO, THE REMAINS, THE EMPTY MAN, and SINESTRO! Here’s where you can get the scoop on these projects!
We spoke about many of the upcoming series coming out this spring, as well as about cinema and television full of anti-heroes that I’ve been enjoying and have influenced my writing through the years.
We spoke about my inspiration for the series, why rats are creepy, and how Birdie is a departure from Drake Sinclair.
All about the darkness within good ol’ Magneto!
Anti-heroes and villains galore in this interview about my Marvel projects!
An in-depth interview about the master of magnetism!
A first discussion about my upcoming horror series.
The Slack Jaw Punks talk to me about THE REMAINS, Deadpool, and more!
I spoke with the Lebanon Daily Record about THE REMAINS. Lebanon may be a relatively small Missouri town… but that makes them an extra special horror audience!
A great broadcast about everything creepy, so it’s the perfect place to discuss THE REMAINS and much of my other work!
The idea for THE EMPTY MAN came to me while I was on a road trip. Long drives often put me in the “idea zone” (THE TOOTH and HELHEIM came to me on similar trips). I drove down a stretch of highway lined with an old, tangled barbwire fence. Every so often, I’d see a piece of tattered plastic sheeting that must have blown off the back of a truck. The sheets clung to the barbwire, and they flapped in the wind like strange phantoms. For some reason, the phrase “The Empty Man made me do it” popped into my head, and I couldn’t shake it. Now, several years later, I finally get to tell the story that sprung up from that weird phrase.
I’m really excited to announced this new project–THE REMAINS, a 4-issue horror series to be published by MonkeyBrain Comics. This bone-chilling tale of terror is gorgeously illustrated by A.C. Zamudio and colored by Carlos Nicolas Zamudio. It will be available digitally through ComiXology on February 26th.
“The dead rats danced the day the hired man came around.”
Birdie and her younger sister Abigail live on a struggling farm. Their mother is several months pregnant and their father suffers from crippling rheumatism. When an itinerant farmhand appears, the children should be relieved. Instead, they find their lives spiraling into nightmare. The hired man regards Birdie with menacing desire. To make matters much worse, wherever he goes, the dead grow restless. As the horror threatens to consume her home and her family, Birdie is haunted by a chilling warning:
Some secrets are meant only for the dead.
The book will be available on ComiXology, and you can pre-order the first issue and subscribe to the series now!
