First of all, all horror movies should have a hopping 50s style song to introduce them.
Second of all, I never realized how much teens in the 50s looked like 30-year-olds.
So, I watch the 80s remake/reimagining of THE BLOB a few days back, so I figured I should watch the original again to cover all my bases.
As the 80s version is dyed-in-the-wool 80s, the 50s version is a child of its era.
And, though I prefer the more aggressive version of the blob in the remake, this one is still a lot of fun.
The movie theater scene is still one of my favorite horror movie visuals of all time.
BOOK PAIRING:
It dawns on me that ROGUE PLANET has plenty of flesh-absorbing moments. It should satisfy fans of THE BLOB original and remake.

Ah, I love The Blob! I was genuinely terrified of the ‘50s version when I was eight years old. I fully understood as a child that it would consume the world if it wasn’t stopped, and any apocalypse, even a hoky one like that, made the younger me terrified beyond belief.
